Hydrology and Catchment Management
Hydrology and Catchment Management consists of two components: Hydrology, which is the science of water flow and water quality and Catchment Management, which is the use of this science to better manage water flow and quality.
Hydrology and Catchment management is currently only a fourth year option for the Bachelor of Land and Water Science degree.
Within the Faculty we mainly deal with water quantity and quality and limnology issues, such as rainfall-runoff relationships, flow and flood routing and catchment scale modelling, blue green algae growth, internal loading in lakes and dryland salinity. Given that the work area is part of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources means that the work concentrates on Agriculture and its effect on aspects of water quality and quantity.

Graduates in Hydrology and Catchment Management would be working a range of areas, mostly related to natural resource management. These could be as scientists or advisers with catchment management organisations, state departments or consultancy companies. Graduates are currently employed as researchers with Universities, with Sydney Water and local consultancy companies
