Ornamental grasses

Landscape grasses and grass-like plants represent a rapidly increasing segment of nursery sales. The Institute’s work in this area is currently centred on Poa and Lomandra, the primary aim being to develop economical and efficient methods of mass vegetative reproduction of superior forms developed by conventional breeding. Towards the end of the year discussions with industry sponsors identified a need to expand the range of genera under improvement.
