Career
Bob Caldwell completed his PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1972 at the University of Sydney. He has taught in Agricultural Chemistry especially to Year 2 students since 1970 covering the more physico-chemical aspects of the discipline. He was, from 1989 to 2001, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) for the BScAgr, BHortSc and BLWSc degrees in the Faculty.
Research Interests
Although having published papers on nuclear quadrupole resonance spectroscopy, polarography, enzymology of phosphofructokinase, the binding of metals to soy bean storage proteins and the inhibitory impact of phytic acid on protease activity, his current research and teaching interests are in the area of heavy metal tolerance in plants and the sulphur chemistry of the storage proteins of cereals.
