Scholarships

In addition to University of Sydney scholarships, students may also be eligible for the following faculty scholarships.

Faculty scholarships

The Faculty’s Undergraduate Scholarship Program was established in 1990 to encourage school leavers of high academic potential to choose Agricultural Science or Agricultural Economics at the University of Sydney. It was also designed to focus attention on the career opportunities which stem from these degrees and to demonstrate that the rural and related industries have a keen interest in tertiary education and the availability of well-trained graduates for their organisations. A further objective of the program was to assist very able students from country areas to attend this University.

NEW Rural Sustainability Scholarships (Undergraduate) $10,000 for 2-3 years
The Rural Sustainability Scholarship has been established to support students from a rural area that may have considered undertaking a University degree financially unattainable. This is a three-year scholarship, available to students from a non-Sydney metropolitan area with a passion for sustainability in natural and agriculture systems, including the areas of carbon, water and food security. Preference will be given to those who are eligible for Youth Allowance. Applicants must demonstrate that they are eligible for this award and will be required to supply a written statement supporting their passion for sustainability and financial need for the scholarship. Value: $10,000 over three years.

Download more information and the application form here.

The scholarship may be also be taken as a residential bursary at one of the following residential colleges which have reserved a small number of places attached to the Rural Sustainability Scholarship: International House, Mandelbaum House, Sancta Sophia, St Andrews College, St John's College, St Pauls College, Wesley College, Women's College. You will need to fill in a college application form for your preferred choice of college. A college’s joint application form can be downloaded here.

Should you decide to take the scholarship as a residential bursary, the scholarship is paid at the rate of $5,000 per annum for two years directly to the College to be directed to your account. Please note that costs vary from college to college and this residential bursary, while it can be directed toward your accommodation costs, is unlikely to cover the full annual cost. The balance of the fees will be the responsibility of the student. All accommodation enquiries should be directed to the College of your choice.

Further information about residential college applications, further sources of scholarships and financial assistance can be found here.
